The Big Beach House
for large groups of up to 20 people
The Ideal Property for a Seaside Holiday on Cornwall's Finest Beach
The Beach House is a large colonial-style villa built for a sea captain in 1908. It stands in the finest position with its own private lane and lawns just above the wonderful 3 mile sandy beach of Hayle, and commands wonderful uninterrupted views westerly across St Ives Bay facing the sunset. It is adjacent to the coast path and the special flora and fauna of Hayle Towans - the extensive sand dunes which back the beautiful beaches.
We offer comfortable seaside accommodation for parties of up to 20 with lots of space in this lovely old house. We are open all year, with short breaks available between October and Easter.
How to Get Here
Approaching Hayle from the A30, take a right turn at the roundabout, cross the mini roundabouts by Lidl and continue until you see the petrol station opposite the recreation ground. Turn right here and follow the road through Phillack, past the ancient church and the Bucket of Blood pub, the Haven holiday camp and shop. Now the road veers to the left; ignore this and carry on straight ahead down the private road. Follow the road round and up to the Beach House.

Spacious Accommodation in a Brilliant Setting Beside the Sea on St. Ives Bay
The Big Beach House is our best holiday let. It is entered through the Conservatory, set up with a long table and lots of chairs. From here the view of the bay is spectacular, facing south west in to the sunset.
It's an excellent spot for watching the brightly coloured sailing and fishing boats coming in and out of the estuary and, recently, dolphins and basking sharks..
The huge Sitting Room faces the sea with comfortable seating, coffee tables and a television with dvd player. It has patio doors which open out on to the lawn overlooking the sea.
The Playroom contains a large table and chairs for family games plus a selection of board games, cards and painting materials. We have a piano for singalongs.
The large well-equipped Kitchen has everything you'd expect - washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc.
Bedroom 1 has an iron framed double bed, wardrobe and window seat with small table for private breakfasts, and lovely views of the sea. Bedrooms 2 and 3 each contain pairs of single beds with comfortable mattresses, wardrobes and bedside tables. Bedroom 4 was once a painter's studio. It has a double bed and cot and Velux windows. Bedroom 5 has a pair of small bunk beds. Upstairs, Bedroom 6 and 7 have a double bed. Bedroom 8 has a pair of twin beds and a pair of bunk beds. It makes an excellent room for children! Bedroom 9 has a double bed and beautiful views over the estuary.
All the upstairs rooms have wonderful sea views. There are 2 Bathrooms and 2 Shower Rooms each with a wash basin and wc.
Outside there is parking for 6 cars. 2 large wooden tables with benches sit on the lawn, and we provide folding directors chairs for outside use - dining on the lawn in the sunset, or reading a book in a quiet corner.
Lots of rabbits live among the dunes and may well come out to keep you company! There is a new steel barbeque, windbreak, beach mats, body boards and buckets and spades, so lots to keep the family busy!
The Beach just below the house is 3 miles long, with the river estuary at our end, and Godrevy Head and lighthouse at the other. In between is Gwithian, which is a famous surfing beach, and has great cliffs and rockpools. At various points along the beach, during the summer, lifeguards keep a watch out for bathers and their safety. Watersports include windsurfing, kitesurfing, canoeing, sailing and fishing. There are lagoons at low tide for safe paddling and the sailing of model boats.
There is a local shop in the season, plus a couple of pubs within walking distance. There are bus services to Penzance, St Ives and beyond.
We are open all year and short breaks are available out of season. Changeover day is Friday, in after 4 pm and out by 10 am. A single dog is welcome subject to a charge of £25 per week. Linen is not usually provided. Cots and high chairs available on request. Prices between £1000 and £2500 per week.
